NALTAR, ISHKOMEN TREK LEVEL B: (16 days)
The Ishkomen valley divides the Hindu Raj, Hindu Kush, and Karakoram ranges; consequently, trekking in this area allows us to see three types of geologically distinct ranges. The trek begins with a short Jeep ride to the beautiful alpine valley of Naltar. This valley has an air force ski training center surrounded by flower-bedecked alpine pastures and thick pine trees. After exploring the village, trek to Naltar lake, whose crystal-clear waters mirror the surrounding peaks. After spending a free day trek to Shani, bypassing many Gujar settlements and meeting the herdsmen tending their goats and yaks. Cross Naltar pass (4200m) to Trang. Its beautiful views of three mountain ranges and countless 6000m to 7000m peaks. The gradual descent from Trang to Chatorkhand in Ishkomen leads to the traditional village of the famous religious figure (Pir sahib). If possible, you may be able to talk with the Pir Sahib. From Chatorkhand, jeep back to Gilgit.
